Mark Atkinson Mark Atkinson - Trustee
Term: July 2003 - July 2011
Mark is currently serving his second term as a trustee in the Village of
North Syracuse. He chairs the Public Safety and the Employee Safety
Committees.
He works to increase pedestrian safety by adding new crosswalks within the
village and improving existing ones. He is also a former member of the
Municipal Planning Commission. He has served on the Village Comprehensive
Planning Committee and various other committees in the Village. He is
liaison to the Police and Fire Depts. and works to identify homes to
rehabilitate to Onondaga County Community Development.
Mark is a life member of the North Syracuse VFW and a Vietnam-era veteran
with over 34 years of military service. He served with Operation Desert
Shield/Storm and Operation Iraqi Freedom. Mark currently is a member of the
174th Fighter Wing and serves as Chief Master Sergeant in the Unit.
He lives in the Village of North Syracuse with his wife, Helen and two

Gary Butterfield Gary Butterfield - Trustee
Term: July 2005 - July 2009
Gary is privileged to serve as Village Trustee for his first term. He has been a village resident since 1977 and a business-owner in the village since 1983. Gary lives on Chestnut Street with his wife Maureen, and their daughter Jodi, and son, Aaron.
Chuck Henry Chuck Henry - Trustee
Term: July 2007 - July 2011
Chuck is currently serving his first term as a member of the North Syracuse Board of Trustees. He is a past member of the North Syracuse Zoning Board of Appeals and the North Syracuse Planning Commission where he served for the past three years.
With the experience that Chuck has gained on the planning board he brings a vast knowledge of the Village Comprehensive Plan and what is needed to bring new business into our community.
Chuck is a member of the Knights of Columbus and has been a volunteer Assistant Coach for the North Syracuse Little League. He is a 21 year member of Teamsters Local 317 and Chairman of the Team Activities Committee, Secretary of the Political Action Committee of Local 317 and is a delegate to the Greater Syracuse Labor Federation.
Chuck has lived his entire life in the North Syracuse area and attended North Syracuse schools and CCBI. He currently attends Cornell University on a part time basis where he is seeking a degree in Labor Studies and Labor Law. He resides in the Village of North Syracuse with his family.

Alfred E. Fergerson Alfred E. "Fred" Fergerson - Trustee
Term: February 2010 - June 2010
A native and life resident of North Syracuse, Mr. Fergerson is a 6th generation member of the Fergerson family who were among the first settlers in North Syracuse in 1826. He, his wife Patricia, his son Bill, and his daughter Vicky reside in the Village of North Syracuse.
Fred's home and business are on the same family land the Fergersons have held for over 184 years. He is a licensed Funeral Director, President and owner of Fergerson Funeral Home, Inc. of North Syracuse. He has chaired several village committees for several mayoral administrations; the Chestnut St. Extension project, the Main Street Facade Improvements, NYS DOT Rt. 11 Improvements committee, and co-authoring the current Village Sign Ordinance are a few of the projects he has been actively involved with.
He holds three degrees, one form OCC and 2 from SUNY at Oswego. He is a member of the Knights of Columbus, a Past Master of Memorial Lodge #648 F&AM, a Shriner, a Eucharistic minister and Lector of St. Rose of Lima Church, member of the Order of the Eastern Star, North Syracuse, and a 42 year member of the National Ski Patrol. He is also a licensed pilot.
